ABSTRACT

This study was carried out on the effect of covid-19 lockdown on internet data usage. To achieve this 3 research questions were formulated. The study was carried out in Enugu metropolis, Enugu State. The survey design was adopted and the simple random sampling techniques were employed in this study. The population size comprise of the entire residents of Enugu Metropolis. In determining the sample size, the researcher randomly selected 240 respondents while 200 respondents were validated. Self-constructed and validated questionnaire was used for data collection. The collected and validated questionnaires were analyzed using frequency tables and percentage. The result of the findings reveals that; Covid-19 lockdown had a positive impact on internet data usage; Businesses used internet to carryout crucial activities during Covid-19 lockdown in a very high extent; Covid-19 lockdown increased the rate of internet data usage. Based on the findings, the researcher recommended that the telecom sector diverse a means to improves the infrastructures needed in other to contain high demand and usage of internet data. More so the price of internet data should be reviewed in other to suit the purchasing power of its customers.
